In the days of Charles Spurgeon and Dwight L. Moody, God was pleased to use these men to raise up what they called their "Colportage Ministry." They recognized the need to extend the influence of the Word of God by means of door-to-door literature distribution. Both Spurgeon and Moody commissioned men to be colporteurs. A colporteur was a peddler of Christian publications. This ministry has since died out. Nevertheless, the need to place good, sound, Bible literature into the hands of the people is greater now than ever before!

Figuratively speaking, Bible Doctrines to Live By, Inc. has two hands: the right hand and the left. The right hand is our preaching ministry, Crossroads Crusades, and the left hand is our BDTLB Publication ministry. For more than two decades, we have been "peddling" Christian literature in conjunction with our Crossroads Crusades. Our inventory of literature has grown to a rather sizable selection.

It is true! BDTLB has the largest collection of books in existence that either teach dispensational truth or emphasize the application of dispensational truth. We make no apologies for this! A visit to a local Christian book store, church library, or a careful survey of what is being taught from many Christian pulpits, will show you that very little is ever said about dispensational truth.

Dr. John Walvoord (Dallas Theological Seminary) was questioned: "What would you say is happening to dispensationalism today?" Dr. Walvoord's answer reflects our concerns here at BDTLB Publications. He said: "What I am getting concerned about is the tendency among many to be fearful of the reaction of the scholarly world. The result is that many are becoming passive about it (dispensational teaching). I think that we need to continue to take a stand on the dispensational issues."

We ask ourselves here at BDTLB Publications, "If we do not emphasize dispensational truth, who will do it?" There are so very few who really see and appreciate this wonderful key which unlocks the treasures of God's Word. Therefore, at the risk of being called "out of balance," we gladly promote dispensational literature.

At the same time, however, we are quick to point out that there are some dispensationalists who are guilty of playing one string of the instrument: some so much so, that dispensational facts are all they know or talk about! They miss the weightier issue: that if dispensational truth does not lead them into a life of conformity, "to the image of Christ," then their dispensationalism is worthless and a reproach to the name and cause of Christ. They are truly out of balance in their execution of the Christian way of life. Someone has wisely warned those of us who believe in and defend dispensational truth, that "dispensational truth did not die on Calvary's Cross for the Christian; we are not to worship it; dispensational truth is not an end in itself."

Our BDTLB Catalog is a library of carefully chosen literature. This literature was chosen because: (1) We believe it will not only reach the head but penetrate the heart; (2) We believe it is true to the fundamentals of the Word of God; (3) We believe it is in keeping with the goals or objectives of BDTLB's ministry; and (4) We believe it is badly needed. This library of literature will be an invaluable asset for all who desire to study the Bible in view of becoming an approved workman, "rightly dividing" the Word of God (II Timothy 2:15).

Our Crossroads Crusades have taken us throughout much of the United States. We have not only seen a great need for literature, but have found a source of supply for this literature. Time after time we have met people (Sunday School teachers, pastors, evangelists, Bible teachers, children's workers, soul winners, and a variety of people from all walks of life) who have written down their poems, sermons, studies, observations, ideas, tracts, booklets, and even books, which could have a far-reaching effect for the cause of Christ, if only they were published and distributed!
