HOWDY! Being in Colorado makes me feel like I am home again! Home for me was the West! I grew up in Arizona and attended Bible College in Denver, Colorado. America is "America the Beautiful" - from sea to shining sea and boarder to boarder. Who can deny that? What a blessing of God to have been born an American! And, I've seen it all. As a child, growing up, I traveled with my family in the rodeo and entertainment circles and now for the past 26 years as an itinerant evangelist, my life has been blessed by the splendor of it all! I have been on a sentimental journey with a purpose this past week - bless God!
The Colorado "Trail Ride" is over but the memories will linger for the rest of my life. I know that I am speaking for all the 25 "Saddle Tramps" that joined me on the trail. They all have a story to tell. I'll try to relay their story and the financial and spiritual fruit of our labors to you in the near future and throughout the summer too! What a wonderful and fruitful ride it has been! For those of you who have prayed and contributed to our fundraising efforts for the "2008 Cowboy Camps Needs," I want you to know that you have ridden with us by your thoughts and prayers. I am pleased and deeply thankful for your prayers and sacrificial gifts. Our "wanna-be" Cowboys and Cowgirls will be eternally thankful too.
As we close out this "Trail Ride," we begin another adventure and ministry. On Wednesday May 21st I will, together with Rich Zandstra, be traveling with Jessica Hobbs, Alex Rosin, Zack Harrington and Cody Stead (four fine Christian Teenagers) to Brighton, Colorado for a "Steer Roping and Evangelism Seminar." We will make a stop on the way at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for a close-up and personal tour led by my nephew, Lt. Coronal James Homoki who teaches at the Academy. Then, on to the "Steer Roping and Evangelism Seminar," hosted by Cowboy, Preacher Clyde Roy.
As our Cowboy Camps mature and campers return with improved cowboy and horsemanship skills we need to take them to another level above the basics - hence, the reason for initiating this program. Here, they will receive a good foundation in fundamental Bible doctrines, evangelism and the philosophy and lifestyle of the Christian Cowboy. In doing this we are also equipping these young cowboys for places in leadership of future camps. Of course, this is an ambitious and long term goal - this is only the first steps. We need to address the future somewhere. Your continued prayers and interest are greatly needed. I invite your help. As soon as we return home, I will give you a fuller report and ask all of the participants in the trail ride and the roping and evangelism seminars to give a short report. I close with these instructive words from the pen of the Apostle Paul, "So then, neither is he that planted any thing, neither he that watered; but God that gives the increase. Now he that planted and he that watered are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building" (1Cor. 3:7-9). I remain, Riding for the BRAND - LJC
