Howdy Neighbor! Well, I'm saddled up and ready to ride into a new year! I tell you, I'm excited to see what the Lord has in store for the future. The Lord's way of doing things have always been mysterious and wonderful. I give Him praise and glory! I want to give a little bit of information to all former, present and future staff members who may want to come and help this summer. Our Cowboy Camp Ministry is shaping up for 2008 as follows: Remember, the following is mostly in the "vision" stage and not set in concrete yet. So, please pray earnestly with me that the Lord will direct and provide and please check out these events and dates! May 11-18 = Come Ride with Me! I have asked Cowboy Rich Zandstra to saddle up and ride again. Last year he rode his bicycle across the USA so that the "wanna-be" cowboys and cowgirls could ride. His help was a blessing and I'm so thankful. This year Rich and I are rounding up a posse to ride with us. This posse will meet me in South East, Colorado in the town of La Junta where we will ride along the Purgatoire River and portions of the Old Santa Fe Trail in Colorado's beautiful "Canyon Country." Our purpose for the trail ride is two fold: (1) to promote awareness of the need to reach young people for Christ and (2) to raise money for scholarships for the young people who want to learn to ride and live "cowboy style" and to purchase supplies, equipment and develop facilities. Last year we had 76 campers who attended Cowboy Lee's Adventure Camps. I will soon send invitations out to anyone who would like to be a part of the posse. You will need to trailer your horses to the camp and trail site. We attempt to beg, borrow or rent a local saddle horse for you. We don't know yet if we will ride from Point A to Point B during the course of the week or if we will ride out in different directions each day and return each night to camp. I suspect that the wives and ladies, who do not ride, will be willing to keep camp and cook for the group. Each rider will be expected to submit their photo, a list of names, addresses, phone # and e-mail addresses to create an appeals letter to send out asking for prayers and money pledges for the camps. If you have an interest in riding with me? Or any questions? Again, please E-mail me: cowboylee@bdtlb.org. May 23-25 = Calf Roping and Soul Winning School! Clyde Roy is the associate pastor, evangelist and a cowboy from the Grace Harvest Church in Brighton, Colorado. Clyde attended our Grace Revival for Evangelism last October. I shared my dream of giving some of our older and advanced cowboy campers the opportunity to improve their cowboy skills by getting some training in calf roping and personal evangelism. Cowboy Roy has a roping arena and a passion for soul-winning. I have asked him to pray about hosting and leading this special, three day, school for 5 or 6 hand-picked young people. I will of course need some adult staff to help. Both cowboys and staff will have to camp out under the stars; cowboy style. Do you have an interest or know of a youth who would benefit from this? Or do you have any questions? Again, please E-mail me: cowboylee@bdtlb.org. June 29-July 5 = Apollo, Pennsylvania Cowboy Camp! The home of America's most unusual church! Yes! Victory Stables and Bible Church. When we left last summer the foundations for the Cowboy Church were being dug. I understand that the church is up and being used. I'm anxious to see it when I stop by next week for a visit. What a wonderful vision the Hobbs Family have to allow their property and horses to be used for the Lord! Their open heart and door for our cowboy camp is such an encouragement. Do you have any interest in being on the adult staff? Do you know of any dedicated Christian college students that might be interested in being Activities Directors for the summer? We will need committed help again - let me know: cowboylee@bdtlb.org. Also, do you know any young person who needs to be at camp? Send me their name, address, phone # and E-mail address. July 13-19 = Alpha, Kentucky Cowboy Camp! Sounds new? Well, not yet! Next week, I will be visiting Pastor Jeff Bertram who has expressed an interest in having Cowboy Lee's Cowboy Camp come to Kentucky. He says he has property and the horses. I will visit to evaluate the possibility of starting a camp by July 13th. Let's pray to that end. My prayer is, "God show us what to do and supply interested young people, staff, equipment and facilities. July 27-August 2 = Herrmann, Missouri Cowboy Camp! The improvements that the Schnaath's made to the camp grounds last year - the cook's cabin, the electric hook ups, the arena and night lighting, the horse corrals - were such a great improvement and greatly appreciated. It greatly enhanced our camping experience. I'm so thankful for their partnership in ministry. This coming summer we want to expand our variety of activities at all the camps - for where and when best suited. Namely: (1) A couple of overnight trail rides and camp-outs for the more seasoned riders; (2) Give training and opportunity for cowboys and cowgirls to take their roping skills to the street corners of the town or village to witness for Christ; (3) A portion of each day to be given to role playing and acting out wild west stories with a message lesson and made into a short movie to be shown on the final night of camp; (4) have more horse games. (5) Got an idea about a short Wild West action story that will allow all the campers to participate using their horse riding and cowboy skills that can be written into a script for the movie? I am open to any good suggestion. Send them to: cowboylee@bdtlb.org. We need a variety of activities to add to what we have done for the last three years. August 10-16 = Tabor, South Dakota Cowboy Camp! Again, we were blessed to see some improvement in our camping experience with the addition of a new arena and re-located Bucking Barrel. Now, Depending upon the success of the Colorado Trail Ride, It is possible that, if the Lord provides money and we get some volunteers to help, The Fincks would like to have a "work week" to partition off the long room we used for our tack room and convert it into cowboy and cowgirl "Bunk Houses" and add electric service for the staff campers and trailers. Also purchase a freezer for the cook's cabin. Wouldn't be nice if we could add "Bunk Houses" at all the camps? Will you pray with me to that end? August 24-30 = Herrmann, Missouri Adult Cowboy Retreat! What an exciting, fun, relaxing and spiritual refreshment that was! I believe that if we spread the word, there are others that would like to join us for the week or a portion of the week. I believe God's hand and blessing has been on our labors. We are seeing lasting spiritual results. Both staff and campers have been lifted up, encouraged and some saved. Only eternity will reveal the results. Please read this information over, circle the calendar dates where you feel like you can jump in and partner with me for the glory of God. Again, any question, suggestion or comment - let me hear from you ASAP - cowboylee@bdtlb.org. Riding for the Brand - LJC - to round up the Strays! Cowboy Lee
