Dolly's Ministry Update for the end of 2006

Dear Friends, it has been quite some time since I have sent a ministry up-date. It has been impossible for me to keep up this year and I apologize. It was a wonderful, but busy, year of ministry. We praise the Lord for the good Vacation Bible Schools, Cowboy Camps and Crossroads Crusades that have been the highlights of our life. It was wonderful for me to have our four granddaughters – Shauna, Saige, Sierra and Sydney – all traveling with us this year but I must admit that is when I got behind on my up-dates, office work, etc. It was a joy to have them help and participate in the camps and Vacation Bible Schools. Our motor home, though we have plenty room for Lee and I, was a might crowded with the four girls and our two dogs! But, the blessings far outweighed the frustrations. Praise the Lord.

After our summer ministry we did take a short Crossroads Crusade Tour to Indiana and Kentucky. It was great to renew friendships and have fellowship with some of the folks in Evansville, Indiana. We went on to Kentucky where we ministered in Peducah and Fulton. There we felt the presence and power of God as we ministered the Word of God. On our way back to Grand Rapids we stopped and visited with friends in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Each place of ministry was a blessing to us and we trust a blessing to them.

We arrived back in Grand Rapids in time for our Open House at Bible Doctrines on November 5th when we celebrated 25 years of ministry. It doesn’t seem like it has been 25 years since Bible Doctrines was officially started but how we praise the Lord for His faithfulness and provision throughout these years. We give all glory and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ. We pray that the Lord’s blessing will continue on this ministry in the future.

On December 4th we had our Annual Christmas gathering for the staff, board and volunteer/helpers of Bible Doctrines scheduled. This is an occasion we look forward to each year. There will be about 50 folks there and what a wonderful time of fellowship. Jan Bultema, Carolyn Mencer, Bev Price and myself have a great time and a lot of fun as we plan, decorate and cook dinner for those attending. We do appreciate each and every one that help us throughout the year and thank and praise the Lord for them.

You noticed I said “scheduled” for December 4th. We were blessed that day with a “blizzard” and so about 2:00 as people started phoning in and telling us how bad the roads we canceled it and rescheduled it for December 11th. We were disappointed especially since with the re-scheduling many of the folks will be unable to attend.

We also, received the news from Joel McGarvey that he was having some chest pains and had spent a couple days in the hospital. After several tests they let him go home for the weekend but then he had to go back in and have a stint put in. Please pray for Joel and his family. Pray, too, that their home in Altoona, Pennsylvania will sell soon so that they can move to Michigan.

In looking through some Christmas cards we received last year I came across this poem and since it reflects my thoughts for you, I’d like to share it with you.

Praying that,

In this Christmas celebration,

God will make Himself very real to you –

In the grace of His presence,

In the wonder of His faithfulness,

And in the knowledge of

His love.

May you have a very happy Christmas and may Christ be the center and focus.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We do ask that you remember to pray for the staff at Bible Doctrines as we are in the process of making up the travel schedule for both Lee and Joel for 2007, planning for the Grace Revival for Evangelism to be held October 2-5, 2007 in Branson, Missouri, and setting up printing goals for 2007. May God bless you all.!

Winning, working and waiting,

Darlene “Dolly” Homoki
